Cycle Hayling is a community coalition that campaigns to get more people cycling more safely
by:
- improving cycling infrastucture on Hayling for schools and commuters
- encouraging cycle training opportunities
- improving the Hayling Billy Leisure Trail

Our approach is to engage local schools, businesses, organisations, residents
and visitors in shaping and lobbying for improved cycling infrastructure on Hayling
Island.
Cycle Hayling formed in January 2010 and has since been involved in
many projects and
campaigns:
- Safe Cycle Route to Schools: currently working with landowners and
Havant and Hampshire
councils to develop a safe cycle route between SE of island and all five island
schools.
Future routes include a north-south "backbone" link between the north of the island
and
the schools.
- Island Cycling Map: we have produced an A3 cycle map showing quiet
and picturesque cycle
routes on the island, and including sites of interest as well as pubs, cafés,
campsites etc. The
map can be downloaded here or A3 copies
obtained from numerous outlets on the island.
- Cycle Wishlist: we have drawn up and prioritized a list of cycle facilities that would
benefit the island's residents, businesses and the community as a whole. Top of the list
is a round-the-island cycle route, including the north-south backbone link.
- Publicity campaigns: Cycle Hayling entry in the Scarecrow Festival,
stall at the Carnival.
- Safe Cycling Poster Competition for schools: £150 first prize
to spend in Hayling Cycles.
