Cycle Hayling

Cycle Hayling LogoCycle Hayling is a community coalition that campaigns for better cycling infrastructure on Hayling Island and for improvements to the Hayling Billy Trail

Objectives

Our approach is to actively engage local schools, businesses, residents and visitors
in shaping and lobbying for improved cycling infrastructure on Hayling Island, to
achieve the following objectives:

  • work with Sustrans (a national cycling and sustainable transport charity) and local schools to develop a school cycling plan to facilitate more children cycling to school

  • work with Sustrans to develop a plan for cycle lanes and safer road use for all cyclists

  • demonstrate support from local business for an improved Hayling Billy leisure trail as beneficial to the local economy
  • demonstrate support from local health organisations and residents for  improved road cycling and leisure trail facilities as beneficial for health and wellbeing
  • highlight the benefits of linking the Langstone section of the Hayling Billy leisure trail to Hayling Island, with the aim of creating a continuous, safe leisure path from Havant town centre to Ferry Point on Hayling Island by exploring viable structural improvements

  • work with Sustrans to develop an effective lobbying approach with Borough & County Councils to implement our aims and objectives
