  Paris to Hayling Cycle Ride

The Ride's Origin

The Ride was started in 1986 by Peter McQuade, who rode solo, with the help of one support vehicle. He was helping to raise money for research onto Cot death, following the death of the daughter of friends, raising £1,500.
The next year he asked if others wanted to join him and 18 of us did, followed by 41 in 1988 and we've gone on from there.

Questions & Answers >>

The following terms and conditions must be read and understood before completing an entry form.

Terms & Conditions

  1. All participants in this event do so at their own risk and accept that the organisers have no legal liability in any regard. It is a condition of entry that riders will wear a helmet whilst cycling.
  2. The money raised by this event is distributed to charitable causes nominated by the organising committee and individual riders. Whilst every effort is made to comply with riders requests, we cannot guarantee that every nomination will receive a donation, although 100% of personal sponsorship money raised is distributed to charitable causes. Donations made to charities will reflect the fund-raising efforts of individual participants.
  3. All participants hereby agree to pay promptly all monies raised, and will use their best endeavours to raise a sum in excess of £150.
  4. In the event of any participant canceling, refunds will only be made on a discretionary basis, dependant on such costs as have been incurred by the organisers.
  5. One of the new E111 DSS travel cards must be obtained and carried with you on the ride, together with your personal insurance documents. The old style E111 forms are no longer valid or available. Public liability insurance is carried by the organisers. Personal insurance requirements should be dealt with on an individual basis by the individual participating. Please fax or send proof of personal insurance cover by 31st May 2008.
  6. The event is not a race, and, although trophies are awarded, our basic philosophy is to help others whilst having fun. Riders are assisted by a number of support vehicles and are encouraged to travel at their own comfortable pace.
  7. Organisers have the discretion to refuse entry. This particularly refers to item 5 above.
  8. The organisers reserve the right to impose a surcharge of up to £20 should unforeseen costs arise.
