1992 Paris to Hayling Charity Cycle Ride

In 1992 we changed the second day route to Rouen - Caen. This was a big step at the time since it involved a last day of over 90 miles a massive increase on the previous 60.

French Lorries blockaded our route as part of a country wide protest against something or rather. Nobody remembers whether it was diplomatic negotiations or one of the riders shaking a fist at the then and shouting "The Tommys are going to get you!" but either way the fiendish 'camioneurs' let the Ride's coach through and it we made it to the French Capital.

2009 Paris to Hayling Cycle Ride
The committee is already looking at the options for 2009, but since the new routes and destinations for Ride 2008 were such a success, we are likely to go for the same or similar routes, with ‘tweakings’. We are unlikely to go to Gorron next year, but maybe in 2010, which is their 10th anniversary of the twinning.
