Funds Raised: £95,000 Number of Riders: 190

The Organising Committee decided to experiment with new ferry crossing and some new route in France.

The inclusion of Chartres, Chichesters beautiful twin city with its spectacular cathedral was undoubtedly a positive move and this necessitated between Evreux and Chartres was stunning. On the last day the majority of the route was on the Avenue Verte, a converted railway track which ran from Forge Les Eaux to Dieppe

On the last day the standard of Bike Ride fancy dress reached a new high (or arguably low) particular with regard to the award winning Von Crapp Family Singers. Jeff Lane dressed in his feminine Alpine attire was surely the inspiration of the TV program 'How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria!'

We carried out the most extensive ride survey to date with immensely positive results. Riders certainly seemed to enjoy it 'As Kevin Stirzaker put it: 'Such joy. Did I suffer? Of course I did. Would I do it again? Absolutely!'

We are unlikely to go to Gorron next year, but maybe in 2010, which is their 10th anniversary of the twinning.
