This is the historic 25th year of the Paris to Hayling Charity Cycle Ride and to mark this special event, we plan to invite not only riders who took part this year, but also those from past years to join us at the Reunion Celebration, from 7.30pm on Saturday 30th October, making it a real reunion for all involved with the Ride over so many years. This is to take place for the first time for a few years at Seacourt Tennis Club on Hayling Island and we plan to make it a truly special occasion, since we have much to celebrate.
We shall be contacting former riders by the e-mail addresses we have on record, going back over ten years, but inevitably some of these will be out of date, so this is a general invitation to all readers who have ever taken part to get in touch, including support crew.
The evening’s musical entertainment will be provided by local band, ‘Where’s Billy?’, who played for us on our last night in Caen Chateau at the end of the Ride, in July, so that’s another reunion! There will be a buffet supplied; video of this year’s ride and all being well a compilation video of past rides; photos past and present; the re-presentation of newly-engraved Bike Ride awards; the opportunity to hand in sponsorship money and some surprises we have in store! The cost of attendance is £12 per head, payable to ‘Paris to Hayling’, covering the cost of the buffet, the band and hire of the Sports Hall, where we can accommodate up to 200. 25th Year Polo Shirts
In addition to the great 25th Year road jerseys handed out to all riders and support crew at the end of this year’s Ride, we are producing some 25th Year polos, in various sizes and colours, in both men’s and ladies’ versions, on sale for £15, payable to ‘Paris to Hayling’ – please get your order in now! We plan to have these available for the Reunion. Further, especially larger, supplies of road jerseys are now on order, to meet demand.
Fundraising
Over £72,000 has been pledged by riders in sponsorship this year, but we confidently anticipate this rising as the money comes in, perhaps taking us to over £1,300,000, accumulated over the years of the Ride.
Ride 2011
This is already being planned, particularly by the new members of the committee, with announcements to be made before too long. I shall certainly be riding next year, as it’s my 25th Ride, no matter what my involvement with the organisation!
