We have now agreed upon a slogan for next year's 23rd event 'Le Tour de Tours'. This is to echo the name of 'Le Tour de France', the cycling world's premier event and to reflect the fact that we shall be visiting Tours, the beautiful main city of the Loire region, but not Paris or Versailles, for the first time in the ride's history. We have also decided upon entry fees, after much debate, having reserved rooms in hotels at all destinations, even Alencon (!) and so able to have a pretty good idea of costs. The results of the post-ride questionnaire were most encouraging, with 100% of riders saying that the Ride was good value for money and giving us the mandate to raise the entry fee, by up to 14.3% on average, although we won't be taking this up, at least for now! Entry fees for the 375-mile longer ride are £395 and for 250-mile shorter ride, £295.
Plans For 2008
As mentioned last month, the route is: St Malo - Rennes - Laval - Angers - Tours - Alencon - Caen, with the shorter ride joining the 6-Dayers en route to Angers. We are going out on Sunday 13th July, Tuesday 15th for the shorter ride and returning on Sunday 20th July 2008. Reservation forms will be available from the beginning of November and the full entry form in January.
